From a café table to a fan club: Barça Fans Armenia

By Narek Grigoryan17 October 20264 min read

How a handful of culers watching matches together in Yerevan became a community with its own shop.

It started with six friends, one projector and a café near Republic Square that agreed to switch the screen from music videos to La Liga. Most of us had followed Barça since childhood, through grainy satellite broadcasts and late-night replays.

Word travelled fast. By the end of the first season we were forty people every match day, and the café owner started ordering extra lahmajo whenever the fixture list showed El Clásico.

Why a shop?

Every new member asked the same question: where can I get a proper shirt in Armenia, with my name printed correctly? Ordering from abroad meant long waits, customs fees and the occasional surprise when a "Large" turned out to be a small.

So we found a printing workshop in Yerevan, agreed on quality we were proud of, and opened a small online store. Shirts, scarves and posters are delivered across the country in a few days, and every name and number is checked by a fellow fan before it ships.

What comes next

This season we are adding youth training sessions on weekends and more screenings in Gyumri and Vanadzor. If you would like to help organise one in your city, write to us. Visca el Barça, and welcome to the club.
